The Plan

There is a growing need for English language proficiency among the Colombian workforce and TLS sees this as an opportunity. We work to bring teachers from the United States and provide them with the means to reach Colombian communities and groups that can benefit most from English proficiency. Our Educational Outreach program will work with children and young adults from underprivileged areas to provide English lessons, and interview and office skills to help make employment more attainable. 

The Location

TLS has partnered with Idiomas Nativos, a Colombian English Institution located in Ibague, Colombia. Idiomas Nativos already has classrooms, teachers, and supplies to help support the Educational Outreach. 

 Why is this Project important?

For Teachers: With this project, we are bringing worlds together; providing teaching experience for Americans as well as the gift of language and business skills for Colombians. Many American teachers dream of traveling abroad to teach but may not do so because they either lack the means or the know how, but TLS will provide both so that teachers can reach their goals. 

For Students: Since Colombia's civil conflict ended, tourism and foreign investment has increased yearly. Foreign companies have brought more jobs, but need proficient English speakers. The opportunity is there, and TLS works with Idiomas Nativos to bring English education and business skills to give the students a jump start!
